Umoja Youth Update - 2008

The Umoja African Youth Group under the leadership of Youth worker Chan Moses is planning a series of events this year which will include participating in soccer tournaments and hosting a drama club. A youth home work club during the summer is planned and an after school programs for ESL and other skills is planned as well.

The Youth program has received tremendous support from other youth service providers like the Pacific youth resource center at Guild ford. plus the response of volunteers has been enormous.  We thank all our volunteers and supporters.

The Umoja Homework club is now well attend with help from volunteers from SFU, Friends of Simon Fraser University.  Young people are benefiting from this program.

LATEST UPDATES

Every Friday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm YMCA leadership team meet at Umoja to facilitate a leadership program for all youths.  This program is aimed to empower immigrant youthsf with leadership skills so that they can be productive members in their communities as well as work to lead summer camps.  To find out more about this initiative, call Umoja office at 604 581 5574.
